You Know it's Getting Worse when...

As we wait patiently for justice to be served, things just keep getting worse for the sorry excuse our country has for leadership. You know it's getting worse when the foundation of our country is being attacked. No, this isn't going to be a tirade against our absolutely non-democratic system of electing our President - it's the Electoral College that decides that race, and it is not beholden in any way to the voice of the people, as the illusion insists (do your homework). Rather, it's about the alarming trend of this administration's persistence in its attacks against our Nation's system of law, which is perhaps the only thing left for an American to be proud of.

Recently, eight US Attorneys were summarily fired without cause. Remember that these positions are won by appointment. In other words, it was the current Republican administration that selected these people for these positions. One case in particular stands out - that of Republican David Iglesias, who until this week was the United States attorney in New Mexico. What's striking about it is the fact that he was accused of poor job performance as reason for his dismissal. Given that he received outstanding performance appraisals for two out of the last five years, the claim seemed dubious at best. In this report, a little investigating turned up the allegation that his poor job performance was pegged against his "absence from the job". It turns out that he is a Navy reservist and as such, takes at least 36 days out of the year to serve his country. So, let's see, start a war, and then take-for-granted those who execute it? Sounds familiar.

Tomorrow, there's going to be a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing regarding this new page in the sad chapter that is this administration's utter abuse of their responsibilities. Apparently, he'll name names if he's asked to do so. Oh how I hope he's asked to do so. Official record showing the infighting of the Republicans will remind this country how bad things can get when we allow our leaders to mislead us. And with our American memories as short as they are, we need as many reminders as we can get.
